Chocolate Mug Cake

Hey there ! I am back with another mug cake recipe. I told you ! Get ready to see a lot of them. This time it’s a chocolate one. I am a chocolate addict so I couldn’t miss the chance to show you this recipe. It’s a delicious cake, moisten with a rich chocolaty flavour. And above all it’s quick and easy, my two favorite words when it comes to cooking.



As I said this recipe isn’t hard at all. It actually requires only 5 ingredients. And you usually buy them in bulk which makes it so dangerous lol. I’ve actually found myself binge eating on it so many times in a month that I’ve decided to buy the ingredients separately as needed. Never get them in the same house at the same time !


You’ll see that in the recipe list there are a few things that are interchangeable depending on what you are looking for in the taste. For example you can leave out salt if you are like me and you always put a little bit too much. It is so weird how a dash of salt makes the dish look so amazing on TV (bringing out the taste as they say) but when you actually try it you’re either giving up on your craving and throwing it away, or forcing yourself to finish it as if it would be a betrayal to throw such beautiful cake.

Also for the water, some people don’t like bitter taste like cakes so interchanging it with milk or heavy milk will tone the cacao down. But it’s also “less” caloric to use water, a little hope for your diet 🙂 .

For the toppings, go crazy whatever’s in your house works (marshmallows, caramel sauce, powdered sugar, ice cream, chocolate chips…). Now let’s see the recipe.



Chocolate Mug Cake

Ingredients :

  • 2 tbsp  cacao
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips (optional)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp granulated white sugar
  •  1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3-4 tbsp water (or milk)
  • dash of salt (optional)
  • Any topping (optional)


Directions :

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a mug
  2. Add water (or milk) and oil to mix
  3. Mix until well combined
  4. Put it in the microwave for 60 to 90 seconds (level of firmness)
  5. Let rest for a bit before adding toppings


Tips : You shouldn’t use a small mug otherwise it might spill over. If you don’t have any other cup, use the one you have but place a plate under it so you don’t have to wash your microwave every time you try it.
